BLS, CFR, OFA, & EFR Instructor
Fire Safety Training instructor
Author of:
Advanced First Aid for First Responder on Scene.

I have been involved in emergency response for over 30 years both in a professional and voluntary capacity.  As a Basic Life Support Instructor I teach both the medical profession and the general public. I also teach various levels of First Aid and Emergency First Response.

I also give workshops on fire safety and evacuation and the use of various fire extinguishers, and combine a short first aid session on how to treat burns, scalds and inhalation injuries.

I am a Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) registered EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and instructor. I’m also an Irish Heart Foundation / American Heart Association registered Basic Life Support Instructor and a level 6 FETAC/QQI Occupational First Aid instructor.

I am co-owner of Acute Medical Training which is a small business that was set up in 2004 to facilitate both in-house training for hospitals and private nursing agencies. We also provide in-house training for GP practices throughout Munster.

In 2014, I published my first book titled “Advanced First Aid for First Responder on scene” which is a 418 page reference book for all levels of First Aid which include; Basic First Aid, Occupational First Aid, Cardiac First Responder and Emergency First Responder.  The reason I did this was simply because I found that a lot of books which were targeted towards the lay rescuer were too complicated and difficult to understand.

It was assumed that everyone was ofay with medical terminology which a lot of people aren’t which meant that a second book (a medical dictionary) in some cases had to be purchased adding to the expense. I also found that some injuries, illnesses and treatments weren’t explained well enough.

My aim was to produce an affordable book that was easy to understand which was not only a training manual, but a book one could pull from the shelf to show you how to deal with emergencies both great and small, in the home as well as the workplace.
